A little bit about Building Schools for Burma and what we are trying to achieve

‘Building Schools for Burma’ is a fully registered charity (Reg Number 1131437) started four years ago in order to improve the prospects of Burmese children through a better education.

The charity raises money in order to construct new school buildings or help existing schools all over the country, improve their facilities. We believe that an education gives people hope for a better future.

Our first project in Nyaung-U, has been up and running for well over a year now. It is a two storey reinforced concrete structure that has four classrooms, each holding 50 children. The construction of the school has meant that more children are able to stay at school for longer.

Project two is in the Delta region of the country’s south west. This is a joint project with another great charity, ‘Helping the Burmese Delta’, who are concentrating their efforts into rebuilding schools in the area destroyed by Cyclone Nargis. The school will be completed later this year.
